How Brown Teddy works

Sell your car, dealers compete for it. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.

  1. 1

    Tell us about your car

Enter your VIN, answer a handful of plain-English questions, and upload eight labeled photos. Most people finish in about ten minutes.

  2. 2

    Set a private reserve

We suggest a minimum based on your car's estimated range. You decide the real number, and dealers never see it — they only learn whether their bid cleared it.

  3. 3

    Dealers compete, live

Your auction runs for a few hours the same day. Bids arrive in $100 increments, and any late bid pushes the clock out a few minutes so nobody wins by sniping.

  4. 4

    You decide at the close

If a bid clears your reserve, it's a sale. If nothing does, you choose: accept the top bid, lower your reserve and relist, or walk away. Nothing happens silently.

  5. 5

    The dealer buys directly

The winning dealer schedules pickup, pays off your loan if there is one, and pays you. You follow every step in a simple status tracker.

What it costs

A flat $350 fee on a completed sale. No listing fee, no percentage of your car, and Brown Teddy never holds your funds or your title — that stays between you and the dealer.
